 Another factor for the development of the city is its foundation near E-130 highway which is a link of E-5 highway and connects İzmit to Bursa and İzmir. The Gölcük city which is on near E-130, is almost at the same distance to Bursa and İstanbul
 The highway net on the region has one of the most intensive traffics in Turkey. Our city is at distance 19 km. to İzmit, 128 km. to İstanbul, 120 km. to Bursa and 45 km. to Yalova and the transportation is provided by highways. frrom on August 2004, between İzmit – Karamürsel – Gölcük marine buses and between İzmit – Gölcük – Derince – Değirmendere – Körfez – Karamürsel steamships started to journey. The intercity and international air transportation is provided in İstanbul Atatürk Airport, Sabiha Gökçen Airport, Bursa Airport, Bursa Yenişehir Airport, Kocaeli Cengiz Topel Airport.
